在全球車壇中，drag race直線加速對決賽事，相信所有的車迷都曾見過或者體驗過，而在北美地區中也有專門的場地供車主或業余車手實際體驗，讓車主能夠展現自身的實力或愛車改裝后的成果，也算是頗具樂趣的活動。

針對這樣的市場，北美三大車廠福特和克萊斯勒旗下也都有跑車為基礎，像是FORD Mustang Cobra Jet Drag或DODGE Challenger MOPAR Drag Pak等，都各有其擁護者，近年來人氣暴漲 的雪弗蘭Camaro如今也要加入戰局。

該款Camaro COPO由外觀上來看，最為明顯的便是隆起的發動機蓋和胖胖的drag專用光頭胎，然而在發動機蓋下可選擇搭載排氣量為5.3升的327馬力的V8機械增壓發動機或者排氣量為7升的427馬力的V8自然吸氣發動機，并可以配備強化過的雙速或者三速自排或者5速手排變速箱，雖然相關數據還沒有公布，但是其強勁的動力不可小覷。

車內配置上有桶形賽車座椅、多點式安全帶、減火器和斷電開關等安全配備，確保在體驗加速快感的同時保證其安全性。
