在2007年的洛杉磯車展上，奧迪首次展出了Cross Cabriolet quattro概念車，這款車采用雙門四座敞篷式設計，并以擁有寬裕的乘坐空間和強勁性能為賣點。奧迪在此之前曾展出一款名為Cross Coupe quattro的概念車，而Cross Cabriolet quattro概念車可以看作是前者的“姊妹車型”，新增的敞篷設計也透露了奧迪未來在這一新市場領域的設計取向。

奧迪Cross Cabriolet quattro的概念車整車長度為4.62米，其造型參照了奧迪品牌的旗艦SUV車身設計風格，同時結合了敞篷車的特點，強調讓駕駛者可同時享受SUV和敞篷轎車所能帶來的駕馭樂趣。而且這款車還采用了取消B柱的設計并致力提升車內乘坐空間，此外，其所采用的敞篷機構可實現在17秒左右完成整個頂篷的開啟或閉合的過程。

動力方面，這款概念車配備的是3.0升TDI柴油發動機，其最大輸出功率可達240馬力，最大輸出扭矩為500牛米。此外，這款采用Quattro四輪驅動的概念車的另一大賣點就是低油耗，其平均百公里油耗僅在7.3升左右，而其尾氣排放已經達到歐ⅵ排放標準。
