因為每年只生產25輛車，梅爾庫斯絕對算是世界上產量最少的車型之一，從它做的每款車型中都可以感受到梅爾庫斯公司的設計思想，這個源自德國的品牌追求的是一種最高質量的極致。

歷時3年的開發RS2000曾在2010年的一些國際車展上搶盡了風頭。這款車具有侵略性十足的外觀，繼續采用了RS1000上經典的鷗翼車門。梅爾庫斯RS2000還大量采用了輕量化部件和材料，例如纖維加固的塑料和碳纖維材料等，整車重量不到1000公斤。

動力方面，梅爾庫斯RS2000配備的是最大功率為270馬力的1.8升四缸渦輪增壓發動機，5秒內可使這款車達到100公里/小時的車速。尤其在彎道行駛時，較少的自重及直接轉向，使車內駕駛者感受到非同一般的體驗。除此之外，四輪ABS系統及安全氣囊也成為梅爾庫斯RS2000的標配。
