自從1995年面世以來，路虎發現就像我們深愛多年的情人－有時候如此地富有魅力、如此地富有情趣、如此地富有干勁，有時候徹底地不可依靠、徹底地不可預測、徹底地令人失望。我們喜歡發現的名字，我們尤其喜歡親昵地呼喚這個名字，為什么路虎公司非要把北美版的新發現改名為LR3呢？反正來自官方的解釋我們根本沒有聽懂，真正的答案是一個謎，像情人一樣猜不透，像情人一樣該愛還是得愛。

路虎LR3使用單片式車身結構，配置主動式減震裝置和可調行車高度的4輪獨立懸架，捷豹AJ-V8發動機的4.4升改進型和6 速自動變速器配合默契，也許寶馬X5就是這個公司重新定位的假想敵吧。恒時4輪驅動系統隨時準備迎接任何一種路面，新型Terrain Response系統包括5種選擇模式－Street、Slippery、Dirt、Sand和Boulders。

與以前相比，路虎LR3的軸距增加了305毫米，為選配的第3排座椅留有足夠的空間，最多坐得下7人。商標式的分級車頂輪廓線能夠提供出色的頭部空間和視野，即使最后一排乘客也不會受到絲毫委屈，載貨區域通過對開折疊式尾門進出。前部空間甚   至更大，漂亮新潮的儀表板、奢侈華麗的座椅和優美雅致的細節設計一覽無余。

全新的路虎LR3非常英俊，這一點誰都無法否認－把地球上公認最漂亮的SUV攬勝拉長然后取其精華去其糟粕。如果說新攬勝是最可愛的寵物，新發現就是最精壯的賽馬，變化如此之大，也許起個新名字不是餿主意。  

動力上搭載4.4升V8發動機，最大功率輸出為300馬力，和引擎緊密配合在一起的是一款路虎獨創的CommandShift手動/自動一體化變速箱以及帶電控中央差速器鎖的兩速分動箱。
