賓利歷史上的第一款車誕生于1921年，被命名為“3L”，因為它搭載的是3.0升直列4缸發動機。此發動機是汽車歷史上第一款每缸使用4氣門的發動機，而且使用雙火花塞，頂置凸輪軸，雙化油器。在當時相當先進，最大功率70馬力。與發動機相匹配的是4擋變速箱，這也使得3L的最高車速可達129公里/小時，超級運動版可以達到161公里/小時。

賓利3L在1924年更是獲得24小時勒芒拉力賽冠軍，被譽為世界上最快的車。這款車于1929年停產，共生產了1622輛。
