簡要說明	在2009年進入尾聲時，許多改裝大廠紛紛推出旗下力作，在著名的Nardo環型賽道上力求最佳成績，寶馬的御用改裝廠AC Schnitzer推出強調低油耗與高經濟性335d柴油車，在3.0升柴油發動機與雙渦輪增壓的輔助下，工程師刻意調高最大動力輸出，力求更好的速度表現。在之前的2006年，M6 Tension曾以331.78公里/小時的極速在Nardo賽道成為速度最快的跑車，接著在第二年又以E92三系列Coupe導入了汽油與液化石油氣雙燃料的V10發動機，跑出了318公里/小時的成績。雖然廠方并未公布ACS3 3.5d的數據，但這款車最終高達288.7公里/小時的極速表現創下當時市售柴油車的新紀錄。能夠獲得如此出色的成績，空力套件起著舉足輕重的作用。為了降低高速時所產生的空氣阻力，這款車的外觀換成AC Schnitzer自家的3系列雙門車包圍，就連后視鏡都被改成迷你輔助鏡，至于要挑戰極速所需的輪胎則是由輪胎大廠Continental所提供。
