簡要說明	1953年，Aurelio Lampredi領導的法拉利設計團隊為這一年的賽季傾力研發出了一款新型的2.0升4缸發動機，最大功率180馬力。實際上這款553發動機缸徑較短、沖程較長，顯著提高了閥門的直徑，而閥門本身也擁有相當寬的夾角。這款發動機即配備在當時的新車553 F2上。這個F2的新版本于1953年9月13日在蒙扎賽道首次參賽。參賽的該車型有兩輛——分別由Maglioli和Carini駕駛，而阿斯卡里（Ascari）、韋路列斯（Villoresi）、Farina和豪索恩（Hawthorn）駕駛500，Rosier駕駛另一輛500。出乎意料的勝利者是瑪莎拉蒂車隊的方吉奧（Fangio），而阿斯卡里因在最后一圈發生事故而被迫減速。
